DIY Grill Tool Display Sign

I've embarked on a monthly Home Depot gift challenge with 14 other bloggers and this was our first challenge! We had to create a project revolving around 1/2" copper tees for our significant other. I had a hard time thinking of something and then I realized that Stephen really needed a place to store his grill tools. That's when I came up with this idea!
You'll need the items listed below (the size of the wood is up to you and depends on the length of your grill tools). What's great about all of the copper items is that they're all right next to each other in Home Depot--so it's super simple to shop for! Additionally you'll need a wood stain of your choice (I used dark walnut), four screws, white paint, a paint brush, modge podge, twine, and clear protective spray.
Start by staining the wood and letting it dry for 24 hours. Then, stencil on your wording. I used my Silhouette Portrait for this, but you can hand-paint it if you don't have a Portrait (though you should really get one because they're awesome). I place my stencil on the wood and modge podged the edges (this prevent paint from seeping under the stencil). Then I painted the letters with three layers of white paint. Once the paint dries and you remove the stencil, you'll want to seal the sign with clear protective spray.
Then, you'll want to attach your tees to your pipe and size out where you need to screw your brackets in. Make sure they're level and then screw them in!
The way it's set up is great because you can easily lift the pipe up and slide your tools on.
To hang it, I screwed two holes in the top of my sign and slipped twine through the holes and secured it with a double knot on each side.
I love the way it turned out! Come check out the14 other challenge projects by my blogger friends--they all came out beautiful! Just click the link to my blog to come check them out.
