A Remedy for a Damaged Veneer Top on Wood

I purchased this dresser from a thrift shop. The top was rippled but covered with a textured spray paint. After sanding it down I found that it was MDF board that had warped underneath. To give it a new solid top again I used concrete in a thin layer to fix it. Surprisingly, it turned out GREAT! See more pictures and instructions in the following pics-

This is a picture of my dresser top after it was finished.

This is the BEFORE with textured paint applied to the damaged top.

After sanding it down to the MDF board I used a razor blade to score it to give the concrete something to adhere to.

Kris cross cuts into the top where the concrete will be applied.

Just add water to the cement patch powder. (I think I only paid about $7 for this bucket.)

Slap it on and smooth it out using back and forth motions to get any bubbles out..

Clean the edges and wait four hours. I let it dry over night.

Sand a tiny bit and sweep the surface of lose granules and seal with water based concrete floor sealer. I like low lustre.

The top is hard and pretty smooth - not perfectly smooth but it's a much better look than rough MDF board. :)
