Updating an Old Piece of Furniture With Bold Colour

6 Materials
I am trying to update my craft room on a very small budget, so I have been re-using items I already have. I bought this cabinet over ten years ago and it is great for storage, exactly what I need for the craft room, the problem was it was not the right colour. I decided to update it using a bold turquoise chalk paint, wooden beading and brand new hardware.
I don't really have the 'before' photo but this cabinet was originally beech coloured laminate. This was also one of the first pieces I ever painted years ago.
I removed the old paint using a heat gun. The paint came off really easily. Once the paint was off, I slightly sanded and cleaned the cabinet, removed the old hardware and it was ready to be painted.
I thought it looked a little plain, so decided to add some wooden beading on the door. I measured and cut the wooden beads and put them on using no more nails
I then painted it using chalk paint and sealed it with clear varnish as I needed the paint to be durable. I added the brand new hardware and the cabinet was finished!
I absolutely adore this colour and it looks perfect in my craft room!

You did a great job! It looks really nice, much better than the before. The color just pops. Thanks for sharing. :-)
