Old Bed Frame Repurposed as a Raised Garden Bed

4 Hours
How many ways can you use one bed frame? My husband and I have come up with a couple of great ways!!! :) We were given this old wooden bed frame support when a friend upgraded. They thought we might be able to salvage the wood for another project. We covered it with plywood and carpet and used it as a stage for the children for a long time. Then we decided it would work great as the walls for a raised garden bed. Just a few extra 2x4's and 2x6's, add some dirt and a garden net and you have a mini garden!
Look at our garden grow!!!
We flipped it over, added some additional 2x6's to the sides...
Wooden Bed Frame was first used as a kids play stage.
A few 2x4's and a garden net create a nice climbing trellis for the string beans and contain the tomatoes.
Just some of our garden bounty.

I did this with an old single wooden divan - stripped off the fabric etc - and put it in the garden and filled with homegrown compost. Unfortunately at 6' x 3' it looks like I've disposed of a body!

Doris - To Denise N. There is a book in most libraries called "Square Foot Gardening," and it has information about raised gardens for people who are not able to bend low in order to garden or for people in wheelchairs.
