How to paint a metal bed frame with fusion mineral paint.

This project cost me $0 - I received the bed frame for free, and already had all the supplies from previous projects.

Supplies:

  • Bedframe
  • Sandpaper
  • Cleaning Solution
  • Fusion Mineral Paint - I used Coal Black
  • Paintbrush
  • Polycrylic
Sanding

Give the frame a light sanding and then clean well with soap and water.

Painting

Start painting the frame. If it is a round like this frame, it is easier to use a round paintbrush. The first coat is usually streaky, so allow to dry and then put on a second coat. If needed, repeat and paint a third coat.

Sealing

Because this is a toddler bed, I don't want the paint to chip. I put two coats of Minwax Polycrylic on the bed using a 1 inch craft paintbrush. I used a craft brush so I did not have too much polycrylic on the brush.

Putting too much polycrylic can cause drips and turn yellow. Do thin coats and multiple coats for the best coverage.

Allow a day or two for the polycrylic to dry and cure before using.

Add some cute blankets and your toddler will love their new bed!
