End of Bed Bench

I had a large blanket chest at the end of our king-sized bed and wanted to change the look to a much smaller bench. I found a bench as my inspiration on Pinterest that I liked and showed it to my hubby to see if he could build something similar.
Here is the inspiration photo of the bench I found on Pinterest. I wanted our bench to be taller (because our bed is tall), longer to fit better with our king bed, and narrow to leave lots of room between the end of the bed and the dresser in the room. The cost was $125 and I knew my hubby could build one for much less.
Hubby pulled out this piece of reclaimed wood from his workshop, it was the perfect width and plenty long enough. He put it through the planer to smooth it down and bring out the real beauty of the wood.
He made a trip to Home Depot to buy six of these 8 feet x 3 inches primed pine boards to build the frame. These are easy to work with and cost less than $4 each.
He quickly built a frame out of the white pine boards - we determined the size of the bench. The top was placed on the base and it was cut to fit the base.
Base was painted white and the top was stained with walnut stain and they were attached together. Then a polyurethane top coat was applied to the top of the bench.
After the base and bench top dried, we moved it to the bedroom and it is perfect for the space! I will be looking for some baskets to fit underneath.

I think your bench is beautiful, and I can see that it exactly meets your requirements. I need a long bench on which to use my neck traction device, since it's painful for me to get up and down off the floor. Do you find this one is so narrow that it would tend to be top-heavy and tip over, away from the bed? (We also have a king.) Thanks.
