My daughter wanted a sofa table to go behind her new couch. She didn’t want it to be too deep because her apartment isn’t all that big. So I went out to where all the wood is stored and started looking for something appropriate. And the best thing was I didn’t have to spend a penny for this project as we had everything on hand!

That’s when I spotted the “pallet pile”!

This one wasn’t in the pile in the above picture, it was off to the side. But it was going to be perfect. All I needed to do was to cut it down.

So I took a straight edge and marked a line all the down.

I took my jigsaw that I received through Hometalk, thank you!, and started sawing through.

Once I got through one side I flipped it and did the same to the other side.

Then, I quickly sanded down the edges. Yes, those are rain drops. It started to rain on me. Washington weather you know!

Not pretty. But, it’s going to be covered so she didn’t care.

Next, I found a piece of cedar that was cut from logs from our old dock for the top. I put Helmsman on the top after I sanded it down to seal it.

Another picture of the top. I used screws to attach it to the base.

See, I told you it wasn’t going to look pretty! But it’s always going to be covered by her couch.

Side view.

It worked out perfectly. Can you tell she loves plants! This is just a few that she has. They are all over her apartment. Every time I go she has new plants and she rearranges them constantly!
