Today I am sharing with you How I made a shelf out of hula hoops. It was much easier than I thought, I think the hardest thing was covering up the bright green of the hula hoop. I used an automotive black spray paint and that seemed to hold up the best. When I just used regular outdoor spray paint it seemed to peel as I turned them over to paint the other side. I also decided to put some polyurethane over it after it was all done.

Best shelves!

Make your own hula hoop shelves with these shelves that Amazon reviewers swear by!

I made this for my daughter to store some products on and also some green plants.

First I found both of my hoops were not exactly the same. So I took it apart at the same and cut the plastic part to measure the same as my other one. Then just snapped it back together and added a little glue to secure it. Then I spray painted both hoops, it took three coats.

I let these dry a couple of days just because I was worried about them chipping. I measured how big I needed my boards and cut them to size. I wanted two boards on this shelf. Then I drilled holes into each side towards the bottom and then screwed my board on each side of one hula hoop. I then flipped it over and did the same and made sure that first board was level.

Then I did the same for the second shelf. Making sure everything was level. This part literally took fifteen minutes. The longest part was waiting for the paint to adhere. I also am going to spray paint some L brackets and screw to the top shelf for hanging. This way it is not hanging from just the hula hoop.
