Stephanie from Crafting in the Rain is joining us for her very first Country Chic Paint blog post! Come find out how she turned this $10 Craigslist find into a bright, beautiful sewing table with Cherry Blossom, Vanilla Frosting, and Tough Coat.
Hi everyone, I’m Stephanie from Crafting in the Rain and I’m excited to be joining the Country Chic Paint Blog Squad this year! My first piece that I get to show off is this sewing table that I found on Craigslist for only $10. I loved the shape and knew it would be the perfect addition to my craft room.

Here’s how I did it:
I sanded over everything, especially the legs, because they were pretty beat up and I wanted to smooth out the nicks. After removing all the dust with a brush, then a tack cloth, it was ready to paint. The top got 2 coats in the color Vanilla Frosting.
Then the base got 2 coats of Cherry Blossom. I took off the fake drawer fronts so I could sand and re-stain them.
I did just a bit of distressing on the top of the table, but I didn’t make that decision until after the paint had dried for a couple of days. Since it wasn’t freshly painted, I had to use sandpaper instead of just a damp washcloth to create the distressed look.
Then I applied 2 coats of Tough Coat, since I’ll be using this for my sewing table. I wanted the surface to be very durable. Even though I don’t have a vintage machine designed to fold down into the table, I can still keep my sewing machine right on top.
And I can still use the storage compartment.
Didn’t it just turn out beautiful? I love how easy it was to transform this piece into a bright table I know I’ll use.
