I saw this cute burlap bag at the 99 Cent Store. I thought what should I do with it? It was so cute. Well I went home and looked at my wood and said I'll make a bunny that holds flowers. Kind of like a Kangaroo lol! Wait till you see how cute and easy this Porch Bunny is!
Things you will need:
burlap bunny bag
flowers
plywood
saw
sander
paint
nails and nail gun
glue gun
stapler
Here is how I made my pattern. I folded the paper in 1/2 cut a circle and into a point to make the ears, I then rounded the edge on the fold to make the ear more natural. The body I just used and 11x13" paper and rounder the top corner edge. The feet I folded the paper in 1/2 and rounded the corners off also. You can see the templates. Really if your only making one just free hand it not to hard.
The wood I used was 36" Tall 10" wide and 3/8" thick
After I made my pattern I traced it on the board. This is the bunny's outline.
This where I cut the bunny using a jig saw
I made the line to cut the bottom but ended up not going that short. I thought 36" tall would be better for the porch
Here are the feet you need to cut these also using the jigsaw.
I then used my orbital sander to sand the edges to make them smooth.
I used chalk paint in white and pained all the wood both sides and feet
This is the burlap bag I picked up at the 99 Cent Store but if you cant find you could just staple on a piece of burlap and glue on some ribbon around to cover the staples. I just stapled this onto the belly after it was painted and fully dry. I put mine about 6" from the bunny shoulders so that the flower are not in the bunny face.
I then grabbed my bunny feet and used my nail gun and put 2 nails in to make her stand. The feet are 11"x 4 1/4" because I folded a paper in 1/2 and rounded the edges to make them.
I made a burlap bow out of some scraps I had, and glued to the ear.
I added a little pink paint to the ears and cheeks. I did draw a face but my daughter didn't like so I Sanded the edges and left faceless. I ended up going with a more distressed aged look. I added some flowers in the belly and it was done.
Done and on the porch!
A couple others I also did! These are cute and easy. For a more distressed look add stain to the sanded distressed edges.
Fine other cute décor and Ideals at Gilbert Marketplace..
