Whether it’s an Amazon gift card, a spa voucher, or a nice discount ticket for that special store at the mall, gift cards can be a wonderful Christmas present for your loved ones. But if you hand them over just like that or in a plain envelope, it somehow loses its value.

That’s why you should make this neat gift card holder and make your present more thoughtful. You can even use it to surprise the person in question by placing it onto the Christmas tree as a decoration with a secret!

You can sew this holder in no time without much effort, here’s how.

Prepare the fabric

Use the downloadable pattern as a guide for cutting out the fabric. Cut out two mirror pieces from the main fabric.

Trim the pattern down along the marking and use it as a guide for cutting out the interfacing piece.

Cut out a 15 inches long ribbon.

Join the parts

Fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of one of the fabric pieces.

Place the pieces onto each other with their right sides in.

Fold the ribbon in half and set it between the two fabric pieces. Make sure to align the fold of the ribbon with the short edge next to the diagonal edge. Pin everything together.

Keep the ribbon in the center of the fabric so that you don’t accidentally stitch its ends to it in the next step.

Sew the card holder

Sew all around the holder, leaving a small gap unstitched for turning.

Clip all corners and turn the holder inside out. Push the corners out with something like a chopstick.

Fold the raw edge of the opening in, pin it, and press the whole thing.

Finish the card holder

Fold the holder in half so that the shortest edge aligns with the one parallel to it. Press the holder again.

Topstitch around the sides, going close to the edge.

Tie the ribbon ends into a bow and your new card holder will be complete!
