Christmas Cards Into Ornaments

I've been saving Christmas cards for a few years now, with the intention of making boxes out of the cards. I've made a few of those boxes, but this year, we purchased a small tree for our cottage and I wanted the ornaments to be more rustic, or old fashioned. So I dug out the cards, and with a little bit of basic sewing skills, made the cards into ornaments. They were so easy to make, that I had enough time to make a box also.
Basic supplies ... cards, yarn, a whole punch and scissors were all that's necessary. You place the cards back to back and cut out your design, I followed the shape of the Christmas stocking. A few simple slip stitches and because they were so simple to make, I embellished a few ornaments with yarn tossils.
I love this tree and the ornaments that decorate it. What's more, my grandbabies had fun decorating it and we don't have to worry when the dog is wagging his tail, to close to it, and the ornaments fly off of the tree like Santa in his sleigh! Hillela@Hometalk.com
