It's easy to make a carved watermelon to serve your guests at any gathering..This was made for a special graduate on her special day.
Items you'll need..Carving tools, A melon ball maker,, Watermelon, Blueberries, Strawberries, Seedless Grapes, Muskmelon, I use a can of Pineapple tidbits in heavy syrup.. you can use fresh pineapple, or any fruits to your liking..
Begin by printing out your numbers or letters, onto the melon. Be mindful of where you plan on carving, & what you want it to look like after you remove the top. I did this freehand, so it's not perfect. But that's the beauty of it..
Carefully do your cutting. If you keep all the numbers connected, you can lift the lid right off in one piece. This will make it nice to reattach later.
Cut & clean your fruit, & make your melon balls. Keep extra bowls for the discarded melon you'll wind up with. Yummy!
Scrape the inside of the melon out very well. Rinse & pat dry.
Now just fill with your fruit. I like to add the heavy syrup from the can of pineapple. I think it mixes well with the melon juices & adds more flavor.
Add a spoon & serve! How pretty & personal!
I put the lid back on & refrigerate over night so all the juices blend together & it's nice & cold for the party.
Remove the lid & serve! What a pretty centerpiece to any party!
