We are hosting a garden tea party in honor of my friend Tania's birthday! I wanted to create some pretty tea party-esque decor for the party that will take place in her backyard.
My roommate has recently purchased a bed from IKEA and they accidentally sent her the wrong sized slats. So...I got to thinking and decided to use the unused slats to create a beautiful backdrop for the tea party.
I laid them out to see what I was working with. And you know what? They kind of look like a garden fence!
I had a bunch of big bright colorful faux flowers waiting to be used and now their time had come! I whipped them out and got to work!
After letting the hot glue gun heat up, I laid out the flowers on the slats. Once I decided how I liked it I got to gluing!
I glued each flower in place and added a faux leaf to a few of the flowers.
I considered adding some twine to wrap around the slats, but it did not look how I wanted it to, so I just stuck to the flowers!
And that was all! It looks so cheerful and bright and perfect for the tea party decor.
It looked so lovely at the party, and Tania loved it!
Suggested materials:
  • IKEA bed slats
  • Hot glue gun

Such attention to detail! I'd like to see the place settings, a little info on the rug, and what an adult tea party looks like these days. Do you have photos you could share? What will you do with the slats now? 😇
