Removing leaves from the garlands

For this project, I purchased 7 leaf garlands from The Dollar Store.

1. Remove leaves from the garlands

Begin by removing the leaves from the garland by turning the leaf to the back and carefully peeling the leaf from the vine.

Placing the playground ball in a bowl

You will also need a large playground ball.

Place the ball into a bowl to keep it stable.

Covering the ball with plastic wrap

2. Cover the ball with plastic wrap

Cover one half of the ball with plastic wrap.

Applying Mod Podge with a paintbrush

3. Apply Mod Podge

Apply Mod Podge on top of the plastic wrap.

Applying the leaves to the ball

4. Apply the leaves

Lay a leaf onto the Mod Podge then apply Mod Podge on top of the leaf.

Covering the leaves with Mod Podge

5. Cover the leaves with Mod Podge

Continue to apply Mod Podge and leaves, overlapping them so you can no longer see the ball through the leaves.

Deflating the ball

6. Deflate the ball

Allow the Mod Podge to dry for at least 12 hours. Deflate the ball and carefully remove it.

Removing the plastic wrap

7. Remove the plastic wrap

Carefully remove the plastic wrap. The ball will be floppy due to its large size but...

Initially, I wasn't too enthused but the result is so pretty and colorful, I think I might try this. It will be good use for a boatload of loose fall (silk) leaves I have left over from prior projects. Thanks for the cute idea!

I admire your skill. I have tries this twice on a smaller scale and failed miserably. Guess we all can’t do everything 🙄.

Nice job and it looks great. 🤗

Perhaps you applied your Mod Podge too thickly. Try thinner coats and more layers of it allowing it to dry completely between coats.
