Today I'm going to share with you an easy winter snow lantern home décor DIY using humble Dollar Tree items and a repurposed candle jar.

This is a great project for the holidays and it's the perfect time for making indoor DIY during cold winter days. This beauty can be a great décor piece until end of the winter!

Tools and materials:

  • Candle jar
  • Golden berry string
  • Burlap ribbon
  • Mod Podge
  • White paint
  • Epsom salt
Cleaning the candle jar

1. Clean the old candle jar

First, I started by taking one of these used candle jars, after washing and drying out well.

Decorating the neck of the jar

2. Decorate the neck of the jar

Then, I got some golden berry string and burlap ribbon from the Dollar Tree and stuck them around the neck of the candle jar.

Applying Mod Podge and paint

3. Apply Mod Podge and paint

Next, I took Mod Podge and mixed it with a little bit of white acrylic paint. I applied this generously to the candle jar.

Epsom salt

6. Sprinkle Epsom salt

Then, I took Epsom salt from Dollar Tree's bath and beauty supply section.

Sprinkling the Epsom salt on the jar

I sprinkled it generously on the painted surface while it was still wet.

Applying another coat of Mod Podge

7. Seal with more Mod Podge

I let the Epsom salt dry well and applied another coat of Mod Podge for better adherence.

Making a bow

8. Make a bow

Next, I took farmhouse-style ribbon from Dollar Tree and made a bow.

Making tails for the bow

I took 2 pieces of the same ribbon and stuck to the bow as tails.

Sticking the bow to the jar

9. Stick the bow to the jar

Using a little bit of hot glue, I stuck the bow on top of the burlap ribbon.

Sticking greenery to the jar

10. Embellish the jar

Finally, using hot glue, I stuck the greenery on top of the bow to finish the look.

Adding a candle inside

11. Add a candle

Quick preview before the final review! I added a candle inside.
