Have an old wool sweater that you love and can't bear to throw it out? Repurpose it into a festive pumpkin to decorate your home! There are a lot of tutorials that show you how to use a sweater to make a pumpkin shape, but this felting tutorial shows you how to capture a design or decoration on your sweater and use it to create a special fall decoration!
Felting is the process of intertwining and meshing wool fibers until they become a solid matted material. Felt material in particularly good for crafting because you can cut it without the fabric fraying or unraveling. The felting process takes water, lubricant (usually liquid soap), and agitation. This process is quite easy and can be done in your home washing machine.
Use a sweater that is at least 70% wool.
Once your sweater is felted, you can cut it, sew it and form your pumpkin shape.

@Hannah V Thanks! This sweater didn't fit, but I loved the design and color combination. It seemed like the perfect material to make a fuzzy festive pumpkin with :)

I am sorry, but at first glance, minus the stem, I thought I was looking a a faux birthday cake. All you would need to do is flatten the bottom, set it on a plate, and put a candle in place of the stem. Then maybe add a circle of artificial roses around the candle. A cute idea though.
