Last year for Mother's Day, my daughter sent me a tower of delicious goodies. I've kept the adorable containers, which are like miniature hat boxes. Since I have 5 of them, and nothing to do, I decided to re-do one of them.
The first thing I did was to give the box and the top a couple of coats of white chalk paint. The boxes are predominantly brown, and I didn't want to fight with coverage, so white paint solved that.
The box has 6 sides, so I traced one side, adding a extra 1/4" on each end, and cut 6 pieces of sheet music using my template. On that 'note' (ha!) I want to say that my book dealer saves books for me, books that are on the way to the trash. So I'm giving these new life, not destroying any good, readable book. I'm a bibliophile, so, yea, that doesn't happen.
Using a ruler and the straight edge of an exacto knife, I scored each bottom piece about 1/4", and folded them over.
Using a heavy duty glue stick, I glued each tab to the bottom, then brought them to the top and glued the top tab to the inside opening. Use plenty of glue and press and smooth.

I love polka dots!
I added some black dots to the side of the lid
I traced and cut and glued a piece of sheet music to the top. I did the same for the bottom, to cover the tabs.
And added a pretty bow that I had.
And now I have another dust collector!
Thanks for looking!
