Cardboard Box Vase

I had scored a nice faux plant from Hobby Lobby but it was pretty large and I needed a good 'floor vase' to put it in in the corner of my living room.
However, I did not want to purchase a floor vase, and decided I could make one for my usual 'zero budget'. I had a large vertical box I had kept from a set of knives we had previously purchased. And my mom, knowing I am a collector of 'random stuff' for future projects, had given me rolls of paintable, textured wall paper border.
I used a glue gun to wrap and glue the border onto the box. I did it in two layers, one on top of the other to cover the entire box.
I initially had tried rubbing a dark paint over the pattern just to make it look aged, but that looked to 'splochy', so instead I painted it a rust orange color, and then added detail.
After painting it orange, I dry brushed gold paint over it to enhance the design. Next, I stuffed the bottom with scrunched up newspapers. Then I placed the plant inside and put scrunched up newspaper all around it to hold it in place. Then I put some faux moss over the top of the newspaper to cover it. You can get faux moss at the dollar store, and I had some on hand. Here it is in the living room.
I love zero budget projects using stuff from around the house. You can't tell at all that this is just a utensil box!

I will definitely do this! My water cutoff door is right in the corner, and I couldn't figure out how to camouflage it. I already have everything I need. THANKS SOOO MUCH FOR THIS GREAT IDEA!
