Christmas DIY Pillow Cover

Hey everyone! I'm participating in the blog hop and showcasing a fun holiday themed project! A few weeks ago I made these no sew, removable pillow cases for some throw pillows in my basement redo. They turned out so well, I was inspired to make a seasonal cover for Christmas.
I've always desired a cute holiday themed throw pillow for my living room, but didn't want to buy a pillow for $20 that I would only display one month a year. Making a Christmas DIY pillow cover out of a sweater was the perfect solution! First, I headed to my favorite thrift store and bought a big white sweater for $3. Then I laid it out and found a throw pillow I already had that would fit.
I cut the sweater fabric into as large of a piece as I could, following the seem to cut out the entire back of the sweater. You need to have a swatch of fabric at least 1/2 inch wider than the pillow on each side and at least twice as long as the pillow up and down. Next I "hemmed" the short sides of the fabric with hot glue, squeezing a line of glue onto the fabric and folding it back unto itself.
Then I folded the pillow cover over the pillow.
Gently slide the pillow out from the folded up fabric. Once flat, hot glue each side together. No need to fold, just glue the fabric all together in a line as if you were hemming it on a sewing machine.
Now turn the whole thing inside out!
And stuff your pillow inside...
I dressed up my Christmas DIY pillow with red ribbon. Then I used hot glue to attach a large snowflake ornament.
I'm really loving how easy this craft was! When the season is over, I will just remove the cover and pack it away with the rest of my Christmas decorations.
Come visit my blog again next week when you get to see my entire house tour, DECKED for the holidays! Seriously, nothing was untouched and everything was handmade. I've been sleeping next to my hot glue gun and inhaling paint fumes all week. You don't want to miss all the fun ideas I have for the holidays, including these candles I wrapped in real birch bark!
I hope you enjoyed my Christmas DIY pillow and that you find many more inspiring projects in the blog tour. To see more, search the hashtag on all social media platforms-Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
And of course I'd be honored if you came to my blog and connected with me! Plus you'll get to see what weird thing I did with the remaining sweater pieces. Thanks for reading!
