Crayon Art Heart

I needed to make a sign. Something that will stand out from the crowd. Participating in The Annual Sausalito Chili Cook-Off last year and I want to win. I needed a sign that would draw people to my booth. It was the perfect excuse to try out some crayon art method. After a lot of trial and error, this is I came up with.
The sign was a hit; I loved it so much I hung it in my dining room to admire all the time. Now I’m a crayon art expert, willing to share what I’ve learned with all of you. I hope you enjoy this tutorial.

Draw a small heart in the middle of your canvas
Using the hot glue gun, glue crayons tips pointing inward tracing hand drawn heart
Start Melting the crayons
Melt Melt & Melt some more
Aim for bottom of crayons while tilting canvas letting gravity do all the work
Rotate the canvas until all the crayons are melted and your’s happy with your design
Done
Hang it and enjoy

I love color! This is just a great project and finished art piece! Who doesn't love coloring and hearts? Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try it tomorrow!

I'm planning on doing crayon art when my sister, her daughter and granddaughter are visiting this summer. I've seen lots of art with the crayons in a row across the top, but I like you're idea of having something at the center. The heart looks like it would be easy to work around, but we'll have to think about what other shapes would be good and not too difficult for a 6 yr old (obviously we won't let her run the heat gun).
