This fun project began with a trip to the dollar store. I purchased a length of heavy rope. While you're there grab a glass vessel of some kind or use one you have at home like I did.

I'm using a Weck jar for my storage container because I wanted a vessel with a lid. You can even use a recycled jar for this project.

I began by wrapping the thick jute rope around the jar beginning at the top. I used hot glue to adhere the rope. I went all the way around my jar and onto the bottom gluing ever inch or two as I went.

When I finished the bottom of the jar I started to do the same on the top. I used a thinner jute rope for the top, also found at the dollar store.

I started in the center of the lid and spiraled the rope around until I reached the lip of the top. You can do the same with a recycled jar lid.

By the way while you're at the dollar store make sure you grab a package of those pink finger protectors for hot glue projects!

On the top of the jar, I used hot glue to attach a glass knob. Press the knob down hard to insure a strong seal.

I added a glass knob to the top of a store bought basket as well to create a set for my desk top.

This adorable storage container for small desk items is easy to make and looks great!
