GEOMETRIC CLAY COASTERS

Lately I have been loving playing around with clay.
There is so much you can do with it and in the next few weeks I will show you guys the endless DIY projects I’ve created more specifically with oven bake clay.
Hopefully you get to love it as much as I had fun making it.
So for today’s project
THE FOLLOWING SUPPLIES I USED
Liquid Gold Gilding (Love this stuff)
Thin tip Paintbrush
Round Bowl
Baking Tray
Of course, as with all my projects I wanted these Coasters to be super bright and colorful as well.
The colors I chose were orange, purple, blue and green but I chose both the dark and light shade in the same color.
The diamond pattern in the middle was going to be the darker shade and the surrounding would be the lighter shade of the clay.
I rolled the clay around in the palm of my hands to soften it into a ball.
Then I flattened it out using an empty glass bottle.
With a regular butter knife (no fancy X-Acto Knife or anything) I roughly created a diamond pattern which then I eventually cut out with the knife.
I did the same thing with the lighter color of the clay but after rolling it out flat I cut it into a circular shape using a bowl to trace out the circle.
In the next step I placed the diamond pattern on top of the lighter green shade and gently pressed until it blended into one.
I repeated the same steps with the rest of the colors, rolled it into a ball, flattened it, cut it into a diamond pattern, pressed it onto the circular pattern.
After all that was done I placed it on a baking tray and baked it at 275F for 15minutes.
The final step was where I used Liquid Gold Gilding and outlined the edges.
But even after the Liquid Gold Gilding the coasters didn’t feel complete to me, I went ahead and created a geometric design onto the diamond pattern.
And there you have it.
