Hide Lamp and Light Cords Easily

Cords are such an eye sore, and we usually don't like them when they hang down, don't blend in, and distract the eye. I wanted to share an easy tip for the way I hide some of my cords. You can see more of my crazy creations here

Here is an example of unsightly cords dangling. You'll need the following materials:

  • Cable Clips
  • Command Strip (optional)

Determine on the backside of your table where you want your item with the cord to go. For example, I place a lamp on this table and I needed to decide where I wanted the lamp to sit so I know where the first Command Cable Clip to going.

How Command Strips work: Both sides are like double-stick tape, and they have instructions on them. They say which side sticks to the hook, and which side sticks to the other surface. In my instance, I’ll be sticking the “other” side to the back of the table.

For this table, I used 2 of the cord clips at the top to lead the cable over to a leg. When you get to the leg you can continue using the cord clips to run the cable down the leg. In my case I had a switch that needed to be held in place on the leg. I used a regular Command Strip and placed it on the back of the switch, and on the other side I peeled off the backing and stuck it to the leg.

I turned the table around, plugged in the lamp, and slid the table against the wall. Look at how clean that looks! I was even able to move the table so that the plug was hidden behind the leg as well. Now it’s virtually invisible.

I love your idea! What do you think about painting the cord with the same paint as the wall to further disguise it?

Also, do you have to reach down below the table every time you want to turn the lamp on? I'll bet it doesn't get used much.

If you can't see the cord, how do you know it's plugged in? I'm confused.
