How To Make Mediterranean Style Coasters

If you love recycle projects here is one that you will love for the your home. These Mediterranean style coasters made from left-over tile. You can use any tile that you may have laying around the house for this easy DIY. Its a perfect home decor accents for your kitchen counters, side tables and outdoor dining space.

Clean and Sand The Tiles


Some of the tiles have sharp edges, so you will need to sand them down. With a fine sand paper, sand the edges until it feels smooth. To clean them use one part cider vinegar and one part water. Gently rinses them with this solution and dry them before you proceed to the next step.

Top Coat Protection


Many of these tiles are not sealed. So to protect them its best you seal with a top coat. Spray the top coat lightly. Let dry for 24 hours before proceeding to the next step.

Adding Cork Backing To The Tile.


To protect your furniture from scratches its best to add cork backings to the tile. You can cut 4 by 4 cork backs. Its best to use a sharp scissors or a paper cutter. Measure your tiles and cut your backs. If you tiles is 4 by 4 then cut the cork backs a little smaller. It should have straight cuts.

Tip: Use a level to make sure the backs are even.
Apply Glue


Apply E6000 glue to the cork back. Place on the tile and press with a book for a few hours. This is the best glue for this type of project.

Now you are ready to serve drinks on them. Enjoy
