Easy Framed Art Made With Sea Glass
I love creating one of a kind decor pieces for my home. I often get bored with things I have and I try to recreate them into something fresh and new! These picture frames held souvenir postcards in them for long enough so I said, "Out with the old and in with the new".
The next wall art was going to involve using pieces of sea glass that I had collected over many walks along our beaches. Seen below is the variety of shapes and colors that can be collected.
First, I took apart the picture frames and laid out all of the unique and colorful glass that I had to choose from.
I had four frame openings to fill so I began to build four individual scenes, one at a time. I'm a lover of flowers so that was an easy couple of images to create with the glass fragments. I started by making one with the white glass and it was easier than I thought to make it look realistic.
I opted instead to use pink and brown glass for the petals to show up better against the white cardstock background. The green glass became the grass and flower stems Do you see a tiny salvaged teacup rose added in there as a bloom?
Next, I wrestled with the design options, what else could I come up with? I went with rural, coastal scenes that I'm surrounded by, a more cultural direction. I chose to create a create sailboat on the ocean and clothes hung out on a line to dry.
I laid out the patterns first onto the card stock. To ensure I stayed within the correct dimensions for the opening, I scored a line into the cardstock first. I glued the glass onto the card stock with Aleene's Tacky glue original. They were laid flat and let dry overnight.
The next day I reassembled the picture frames and just admired them. I thought about how all of the shards of glass once had a previous life as a vase, a teacup or even a fancy dish. Its always a great thing when you can recycle and reuse items once more!

Thank you very, very much they were early in my sea glass creativity. I've done many, many pictures since then including a blue whale!
