Zipper Glassware
I originally saw etched glass zipper glassware in a gift shop for what I thought was a crazy amount of money. Looking at it I realized I could make it myself for just a few bucks. Combine a bit of glass etching with glass painting and add in some e6000 glue and you have your own zipper glassware.
And since I'm personally not much of a wine drinker, I opted to make zipper shot glasses, but you can of course do this for any type of glassware.
If you don't want the bottom of the shot glass frosted, wrap the vinyl tape around the base of the shot glass.
Then cover the bottom with painter's tape.
At the top of the glass, form a triangle at the top of the glass.
You can cut the tape at an angle to more easily create a sharp point.
Then fill the space in between with painter's tape.
Wash the shot glass to remove any fingerprints.
Put on gloves and then paint on a thick layer of the etching cream. Then let it sit for however long the instructions on the bottle say - typically it will be 1 minute.
Wash off the etching cream and peal off the tape.
Using the silver paint, paint little lines along the sides of the non-frosted triangle. Then continue the lines down the middle of the glass, staggering them slightly to continue the zipper pattern.
Add some e6000 glue to the back of the zipper pull and glue it to the base of the non-frosted triangle. Hold it in place for at least 30 seconds.
Leave it to set for 24 hours and then it's completely dishwasher safe. Wash it thoroughly and then it's ready to use!
