At the beginning of the New Year while strolling through Michaels I noticed a lot of signs made out of shutters. Although I am a fan of the store , I am not a fan of the prices for such items so I set out to make my own. A trip to my local Habitat store I found the perfect shutter for $5.00. Gotta love a bargain!!!

So the supplies I used for this project are one shutter, Metallic sliver hammered spray paint, rope and a black marker. Peel and stick wood plank. Wipe your blinds clean and spray paint.

Pinterest has lots of signs to choose from so you can find something there if you don't have any ideas of your own. Once dry take a black permanent marker and start writing on each slat.

So here is what I wrote on my slats. I had originally left the whole shutter silver, but it was a little much for me, so I made some last minute changes.

I had some peel and stick faux wood planks left over from a previous project so I used it to cover the top and bottom of my shutter. Then finished my writing.

So here it is with the changes I made.

Next you are going to take a piece of rope. When I purchased the shutter it had two cup hooks already in the top, so I took the rope and tied it around each hook so that I will be able to hang it.

Before and after

So here is my sign finished. The past six weeks have been very trying for my family, we suffered a loss of a baby, my uncle who is battling cancer had a heart attack and had a 9 hr surgery, two weeks later my mom suffered a stroke, and to top all of that off my son broke his foot. So the words mean a lot, my family as always have been there for each other and this is for them.
