My wonderful neighbor gave me 2 white shutters she didn't know what to do with. I got inspired!
During painting
I started by washing and then painting them, coral gloss. I was going for a beachy feel in a very bland living room. I finished with a coat of clear polyurethane.
I purchased 5-6 picture frames from the dollar store. They were black and added nothing to the beach color scheme.
So I painted the frames seaside gloss and yellow. After laying out the picture frames on the shutters, I decided that there was too much color and it just didn't blend well. So, I went with a dark blue. This was much better.
I then used screws to place frames in various layouts. I used wire on the back of the frame trying to get the frames to hang at different angles. I became very frustrated as I just couldn't get the look I wanted. I removed the screws and the wires. Finally I decided to try 3m picture hanging strips. They worked great. I used two screw in hanging screws at the top corners and attached a small rope to hang it. And I love the final version!
Materials used. Everything was given to me except the 3m picture hangers.
I will getting some decorative clips and adding a couple of additional photos that are not framed, maybe a postcard or two.

If you hang this upside down, the clips will hold without having to be fastened so you can move them around. A couple of starfish at the top and an anchor at the bottom, and your beachy theme is even better. What else have you devised to go in this room? I love a beach theme. 😇
