Our New Flower Bed!

Hi, I'm Amber Oliver! I hope if you enjoy this project you'll also stop by my blog!

We have this long stretch along our fence (between it and the driveway) that I knew would be the perfect place for a new flowerbed! When we moved in, it was in rough shape.

The first step was to pull out the old, dead bushes and clear the area so we were starting with a blank slate.

If you have a tiller, this is the perfect time to use it! We didn't, so we used some shovels and our muscles to loosen the dirt for our new flower bed.

Once your bed is ready, it's time to shop for plants! I try not to get ahead of myself and wait to buy the plants until wherever I'm planting them is ready!

We also planted Impatiens to add some color to this area. The pink are my favorite! I've always have the best luck with these flowers so they are my go go! They will spread and fill in beautifully while the bushes have time to fill out.

The last step was to add mulch!

I also added a hanging basket to the fence and put in a huge thing of Wave Petunias. Aren't they beautiful!? We were trying to bring the focus away from this fence that desperately needed to be replaced.

Click here to see the brand new fence! It's AMAZING!!

We planted 3 Plumbago bushes (they have those beautiful blue flowers and would fill in this space nicely!)

It did need help. You did a great job. Love the dark mulch. And the hanging baskets are a plus.
