HOW TO ADD MODERN OPEN-SHELVES (KITCHEN UPDATE FOR WAY LESS CASH)

We have two sections of upper cabinets in our kitchen. The section over our stove was neutral. It functioned fine, but I always thought it could be used a little more efficiently. I also wasn't a fan of our microwave placed in the middle of our upper cabinets. I therefore decided to change the space by moving the microwave to over top of the stove.
I then decided to fill the space where the microwave had been with some beautiful open shelving!

Here is what the space looked like before, when the microwave used to be there.
The first step was to relocate the microwave. You can read about that here.
Next we tore out that beast of a microwave shelf, and removed the upper cupboards.
After the shelves were removed we tiled the backsplash and all the way up the open shelf home.
So the usual steps came next: measure the space - twice of course - and cut them. We're lucky enough to have a table saw to use in my dad's workshop in our yard, but this would be doable with another saw, just with a lot more sanding. Agreed! We did a bunch of small
projects th added up to a big change: painting cupboards, new backsplash, new built-ins +++. We talk about them all on the blog. :)

So for $50 you added shelves- refaced the cabinets- changed the backsplash and added a marble countertop? That IS impressive 🙄

Nope. For $50 we added modern open shelves - just like the title says.

That really does make a big change and it looks great. My question though is about the wrap dispenser on the wall. Is it vintage because I can't seem to find one for sale. If it's not vintage and you remember where you bought it would you please let me know?
