Painted Sofa

We are redecorating a much needed family room/man cave and rather than get rid of the couch, I decided to paint with chalk paint (my favorite paint). We are thrilled with the results and I can't wait to finish the room! Painting the walls next and then a new floor!

We have had this couch for several years and did not pay a lot of money for it. It was faded from cleaning but was structurally still good.

I mixed Annie Sloan chalk paint with water. 50/50 ratio as I knew I was going to be needing several coats. You want to spray the fabric with water before painting to help it saturate the fabric.

This is after a couple coats of paint. I mixed Paris Grey with Graphite to get the color I wanted.

I did 4 coats of paint and lightly sanded in between coats with 400 grit sandpaper.

Now to wax. You can see the difference where I have waxed on the armrest compared to the back cushions.

The finished project!
Finished sofa! And the man cave is almost finished as well!

What ratio of paris grey to graphite did you use to achieve that color? and about how many cans of paint and wax did it take to do the entire couch?

It was a 2 to 1 ration (two parts Paris to 1 part graphite) of paint and then about a 50/50 ratio of paint to water. I honestly don't know how many cans...maybe 2-3. Not even a full can of wax. It really will depend on your couch fabric/color, etc. We love how it turned out.

It was a microfiber fabric. I would definitely paint it if it was mine! LOL
