Repurpose That Old Worn Out Sofa!

This queen sized sofa bed is about 20 years old and has been used in our home and in my husband's office.
I tried selling it but no one was interested and when I saw a post on Hometalk about making a love seat into an outdoor bench I thought I could do that!
First we stripped it down to just the bare bones (wood). Because it was a sleeper sofa it had no seat so that had to be built.
We started by covering the front and the seat with furring strips after bracing the bottom with a couple of 2x4's for stability.
Slats also covered the back and sides. We did use lattice board when the would needed to be thinner.
My husband even designed some cup holders for the arms.
We finished it with BH&G deep seat cushions from Walmart after sanding and applying a waterproof finish. So excited to have this extra seating on our patio!

You did a beautiful job! 👍
Is the base made from old pallets? Do you expect to use more traditional wood or metal legs? Or a porch swing?
Exactly where did you put the 2X4's?
