It's time to send the kids back to school! Like any proud parent, I always take pictures of my kids on their first day. To make this year's photo even more memorable, I created this easy back-to-school photo prop in just 10 minutes! Give it a try, and grab my free printable first day of school signs, too.
To make this simple craft, you'll need:
- 1 cork tile or small cork board (I used a 12"x12" cork tile, which comes in packs of 4 at Target)
- Colorful pencils, chalk, crayons, pens, or markers
- Hot glue gun
- Thumbtack
- First day of school printable sign
- Ribbon (optional, to convert the photo prop to a door decoration or bulletin board)
While your glue gun is warming up, place your pencils, chalk, or other writing utensils around the cork tile to determine a layout that fits and looks good to you. Once you've settled on the pencil and chalk placement, use your glue gun to secure them in place.
Next, grab your free printable back-to-school sign from my blog. I created a sign for grades 1-12, plus preschool, pre-K, and Kindergarten.
Print and cut your sign, then attach with the thumbtack.
Now, your quick back-to-school craft is ready for those precious first day of school photos! Your child can pose with the sign, then when you're done snapping pics just attach a ribbon to the back of the tile to hang it on the front door, or on the wall to display your child's artwork.
Not only is this craft fast and easy to make (even your kids can make it), but you can can decorate it as much or as little as you like! Add rulers, a fancy bow, a "bouquet" of crayons in the corner... There are endless ways to make this project unique for you and your kids.
You can read more and get access to the printable first day of school signs over on The No Pressure Life.
