Spice up the Spice Cabinet.

3 Materials
1 Hour
Although this idea is not new and others have posted great ideas, I decided to use what I had.
I'd love cute containers but they are costly and what spices come in have great tops and keep my items fresh.
When I was taking it all apart, it amazed me how many doubles, triples an old spices that I had. It is important to throw out old spices or recycle them as potpourri or carpet freshener depending on what smell it is.
I could find everything I needed but nobody else could. After having my new kitchen for a year, I'm redoing the cabinets and finally putting in the shelf liner. I am and taking the time to organize things that were just thrown in.
I already had a Dynamo Label Maker, most of us probably do. I decided to put it to use. Although I'm fairly organized, I'm not usually very particular. But the older I get, the less stuff I want and the more organized I want to be.
I took out the spices and began labeling them. I used a coffee mug to collect the backings from the stickers so I didn't have another mess to clean up.
Taking the time to check the dates, combine doubles, and throw out spices from 1989. Ok maybe not that old but I had some 2011's.
I love the tried and true, three-step adjustable shelving for spices. I've never found anything better to make the space I have work.
Finally adding in the new skid proof, shelf liner. I choose this since it was easy enough to cut, fit & take out if I need to wash it.
What an hour can accomplish!
Now I don't have to listen to anymore complaining, at least about the spice cabinet. Everything is easy to find.
I didn't take a photo of the above shelves but I put all the oils together and all of my flavorings for baking.
It always amazes me that when I accomplished something, even a small task like this, it makes me feel better and almost grown up. 😁
