A Genius Way To Hide Your Spare Key

I don't know about you, but I've been locked out of my house a bunch of times. With all of the craziness that happens in the morning with getting our kids to school and then running to work, we tend to forget our keys.
So I decided it was time to make a good place to hide a spare key. I’ve seen this genius little project in a bunch of places, and it's so quick and simple to make, I had to do it today.
Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
All I used was an old medicine bottle, some glue, and a pine cone. I also did one with a rock instead of a pine cone, in case you live in an area that doesn’t have too many pine cones. I could say the same about rocks, but who lives in an area without rocks?

Step 2: Glue the Pine Cone on Top
I glued the pine cone (and the rock) to the medicine bottle top with a generous amount of glue and let it dry for 30 minutes.
Then I was done with the project. It’s so simple and easy. I put the key in the medicine bottle, and made a hole in the ground by jabbing it with a stick.
I made sure to move the dirt around a bit so no one could see the white top, and so it looked more natural.
Here’s the rock one. It also looks realistic.
And now every time one of us gets locked out of our house all we have to do is get the key out from it’s little hiding hole. Practical, simple, easy.

We have an old slot type mailbox that we leave an old envelope in with a key to our back door. If we forget our key we just open it up and remove " the mail " and walk around to the back door. We also change it around occasionally by leaving the front door key in the backyard in a pill bottle wired to the back of our old metal glider thats up against the house
