I have always wanted a potting bench. We had been clearing our garage and I found 2 small pallets that our BBQ was packaged with.
I got thinking how I could use these, a heap of old fence palings and a couple of bits of lattice that were just lying around rotting.
First pic, before bracing and painting.
First I stood the pallets on their ends and balanced palings to see what size would fit outside our shed.

Decided to use the lattice as a backboard so I could also hang things
Finished product!
Cut the palings to the size I wanted after removing old nails and measuring.

Then we screwed the palings, on the shelf first then the top shelf.

We then added the lattice, screwing to the back of the bench.

We felt it needed some bracing so we added a palming horizontally at the top of the lattice, front and back, and another palming across the bottom and also in the middle.

It had a little bit of a wobble because as we know pallet timber can be varying widths! It was easily fixed by adding a little rubber stopper on right front and left back sides.

A dust, light sand in places and then painted with a watered down chalk paint.

The addition of some hooks to hang tools and a Welcome sign, and it's ready.

So pleased with it!
