Decorating With Garden Junk and a Frame

When the warmer weather comes around I like to decorate my garden as much as I like to decorate my home.

Today I'm going to show you how I repurposed an old frame that was hanging in my basement. It's now hanging on the fence to decorate my yard.

I began by creating a shelf for the bottom edge of the frame. I attached it using a small piece of wood under the back lip of the shelf with a nail gun.

Next, I mixed what I thought was going to be the perfect purple for the garden but it came out a little on the maroon side, I was a little heavy on the red.

For the second coat, I added more blue to the paint and that gave me the exact color I was looking for.

I distressed the edges with a little sandpaper then hung it on the fence using a simple over the door wreath hanger.

I've written a lot about decorating the yard and garden with junk, at one point we built a fire pit in a weekend. That was a lot of work but it turned out great in the end. When we finished the fire pit  we even built a log holder to hold the logs for the fire. You can read all about these projects at Homeroad.net.
