Mostly Free Colorful Decor for a Blah Privacy Fence

We used curb-picked elements, corrugated tin and bright spray paint to create a fun and colorful "view" on a weathered section of privacy fence.
This project is pretty self-explanatory, but it did take some time because most of the elements were found throughout the summer along the curb. First, we spent some time gathering various automotive wheel covers ("hub caps") from nearby curbs. (Do NOT steal them from cars, unless you're sending one to the junkyard! LOL)
I spray painted them in bright colors, and screwed them to the fence at various heights using sheet rock screws.
We also curb-picked some discarded green garden hose, and I cut it to varying lengths using regular utility scissors. We screwed the garden hose to the fence, with each piece coming down from the hub cap "blossom" with a curve or two so it wouldn't just be a bunch of straight lines.
For the leaves, I used a single piece of corrugated tin and just cut it into simple triangles, using tin snips, to suggest a leaf shape. I spray painted them in a bright "John Deere green."

We don't have much of a garden space in our small rental house, but I did have a giant beautiful purple mum that bloomed like crazy. I thought it looked great with the blooming fence as a backdrop.
What I like about this is that it also brings some color to the yard in the middle of Winter, when things are at most snow-covered and at least brown and drab.
