Upcycled Tea Pot Fairy House
Off late I have been obsessed with fairy houses and fairy gardens and have been trying to make small cute things to decorate one. Recently one of my friends shifted their house and she had piled up stuff to be thrown away. I went to help her with stuff and my eyes caught this beautiful vintage tea pot lying there to be trashed. I quickly picked it up and brought it home (of course with my friends permission). And this is how I upcyled it.
Lets see how I made this.
I used the decoupage technique and a lot of texturing to bring out the effects.
I used some decoupage papers with these pretty designs.
Step 1: I tore the edges of the paper. Never decoupage with the straight edges.
I used different papers and tore them according to how I wanted.
Step 2: I applied decoupage glue and glued all the papers on the tea pot.
Step- 3: To give it a rustic fairy house look, I mixed texture paste with black paint and sand and used a brick stencil to create brick/pathway effects.
I used the same paste on the hut as well.
Step 4: Now I mixed sand/semolina with texture paste and applied it in all the blank left over areas. Sand/semolina gives a grainy texture.
Step 5: Once it dried, I painted it in shades of green to make it look like shrub as a continuation of the design on the paper.
Step 6: I also painted some flowers all over the tea pot.
Step 7: I painted the lid in red with white polka dots. And the handle in bright yellow.
This is how it looked. I then applied few coats of varnish to seal all the work.
Step 8: To enhance the look and make it more dreamy, I added fake jute creepers
It turned out soo good. I placed it in my fairy garden and added few more handmade miniatures and fake grass and plants.
