Cheryl from gave this chair a simple, yet very effective transformation with Liquorice and Hemp Oil!
This gorgeous Louis XV style chair was exactly what I had been looking for when I came across it. At first glance the chair seem to be in pretty great shape although the cane backing was a little worn and some spots scuffed up I knew that with a little love and care this chair would shine once again.
This chair wasn’t in horrible shape so I decided I’d try to save the original finish. I started by giving the chair a very light sand with a 400 grit sandpaper. After a quick wipe down I opened up a can of Howard Restore-a-Finish and went to town buffing and blending with a Steel wool pad. I continued to work and watch in amazement as the blemishes disappeared and the chair started to regain its charm. While restoring I tried to blend the worn cane but it would not blend so I decided I’d paint it using Country Chic Paint in the color Liquorice.
Once the restore was done and the canning painted there wasn’t much left to do but give the entire chair a big drink of Country Chic Paint Hemp Oil. I simply brushed on the oil and left the piece to rest for a few days.

This chair turned out absolutely marvelous and it just goes to show not every piece has to be completely painted to bring it back, a lot of pieces are gorgeous just the way they are and you can make them shine again by doing a few small things.
