Painted Rattan Refurbishing Project

Painted Rattan Project. Summer is almost here and everyone is thinking outdoor life, the beach, the lake etc. I was at the fabric store a while ago and I fell in love with this under the sea fabric. I'm a sucker for ocean and nautical so I had to buy it! I found this vintage rattan set and I loved the way the chairs looked and I thought the pair together would look great! I started by removing the cushions, sanding down the rattan. I mixed my " chalk paint" brew and I attacked it with it. I used Benjamin More for this project. I did two coats sanding between coats. I reupholstered the chairs. I did 3 coats of polyacrylic and voila! Beachy, breezy, beautiful rattan!
The glass is smoked.

This is how the chairs looked before.
Enjoyed the project?

Paige Phillips on Jun 30, 2016I love it. I bought a rattan table and chairs, too, and I'm also on a nautical kick! I was wondering about using chalk paint, and this just helped me decide that it's a good idea. :) You did a great job!
