Painted Paneling and Whitewashed Brick Fireplace

When we moved into our home, there was dark paneling on the walls, a brass fireplace surround, a heavy brown varnish covering the mantel and warn carpet on the floors.
I painted the walls with Kilz, then 2 coats of paint later and the walls looked so much better.

We ripped the carpet up to reveal wood floors, painted the brown varnished doors a dark brown/black paint, painted the trim and mantel white, used a high heat spray paint on the fireplace surround and whitewashed the brick.

I think it all looks so much brighter and the beautiful features of this fireplace just seem to pop instead of blend into nothingness! See my full home tour and before and after pictures on my blog!

Where is your blog? I would love to see the before and after. I bought a house and it has the deep groove paneling in the kitchen, dining and laudnry area also. I need some great tips on how to paint it.
