Kitchen Table Refurbished

2 Days
We bought this table from a lady that had stored it in a old shed.
Once we got it home and decide to take the veneer off we realized it was pressboard under the veneer. I had just bought my husband a jointer for his birthday . We build beds so we decide to try something new. We ran the wood through the jointer. We then nailed the boards to the top of the table. My husband and son then flipped the table over and cut the hangover off. I wasn't feeling it but decide to just wait and see what they were going to do.They cut thin strips of wood and stapled to the sides. I wasn't excited and was afraid this was going to be a failed project. After wood putting the strips of wood to the table. We then gave it a good sanding with the electric hand sander .
My son's fiance' and I got to work we used GF Linen for the off white GF Antique walnut gel stain for the brown and then a blue chalk paint . We then sanded the top again. We then used GF Van Dyke glazes to give it a more age look We sealed the deal with a high gloss polyurethane .
As usually when you buy a table you can't hardly get the chairs to match. So my husband built benches . Notice the smaller one that's for the three year old grand daughter we call her Ms Diva. Can't wait to see it in our children's home.
