Curb Appeal

Needed a change and so I gave my front door a makeover to enhance it's curb appeal.
Cleaned my door by wiping it with a wet cloth and sanding it down lightly in some areas with 220 grit sand paper.
I then taped the edges of the door before applying paint. I used a high quality 2.5" angled brush to apply the paint. The AmericanaDecor Curb Appeal paint is known to level as you apply the paint so I didn't worry too much about the streaks. I allowed at least an hour in between each layer. I actually ended up doing this over two days because I painted it the night before and finished with the second layer the next day. And yes I only applied two layers and felt it was sufficient.
For the frame, I actually had to do a lot more sanding down and scraping since there was previous paint that started to peel. Once that was done, I used this paint + primer mix that we bought from lowes off the return/clearance rack. We were looking for something close to white for our garage door and didn't mind if it wasn't exactly white. This turned out to be even better and the matte creamish color was perfect. I felt the matte really stood out against the glossy blue and gave it a nice contrast.
And here's the after picture with a new door mat and wreath!! My next project is to spray paint the exterior light fixtures (next to door, but not shown in picture) and door handle an oil bronze color to make it stand out even more against the light tan brick.
Enjoyed the project?
