I wanted something different for my shutters on my house and husbands shed. I researched online what I wanted and found plenty, BUT was out of my price range to do 14 windows at the price they wanted. My husband went to Lowe's and found the primed contractors wood he cut and I stained and he put together!
Wood cut and ready for first coat of stain.
First coat I used Boot Hill Grey
Boot Hill brushed on entire board.
Slate color used next and I randomly brushed on top of entire board.
Slate gave the weathered look.
Third and last stain was a solid color Cordovan Brown.
Randomly brushed this on over entire board.
Finished shutter placed on shed!!!
The beauty of this you can not mess up on the staining process.
Now the rest will go up on the house. So far I have had 3 neighbors stopping and asking about our new shutters!
Suggested materials:

  • Stain   (Home Depot)
