DIY French Farmhouse Stool
I transformed this generic looking foot stool into a Frenchy farmhouse stool using a free downloadable iron-on transfer, a new tea towel that was given an aged look, and my favorite DIY chalk paint.
Could you get any more generic than this? And doesn't it look like it belongs in the 80's? I knew a little paint and new fabric would work wonders for this little guy. The top was hinged on, so I started by removing the screws and taking the top off.
I used my favorite home made chalk paint using Poppie's Paint Powder and Sherwin Williams latex paint. I started out with a color that is very similar to Annie Sloan's Duck Egg.
The next coat of chalk paint was custom mixed to get a Frenchy blue. I then used a wet paper towel to distress the blue so that the first color showed through.

I printed the French sheep image onto iron-on transfer paper specifically designed for fabric and I followed the package directions to apply the transfer. It was quick and easy.
I stapled on the fabric and then attached the cushioned top back onto the stool.
