The curb appeal of your home is so important. If your home looks dull and boring outside, people assume it is the same way inside. I know you are not dull and boring so ramp up your curb appeal with these DIY board and batten shutters!
I made my shutters for the "lake" appeal for our Lake House Fixer Upper. The curb appeal side of a lake home is the lake side. If you have not checked out our Lake House Fixer Upper Series you are missing out! See where we started and how far we have come HERE.
For this project you will need 3 cedar boards the length of your window and 2 boards the width of the three long boards. I also put a cross board on mine to give it a more modern farmhouse look. *See the full project list by following the link at the bottom.
Before attaching the cross boards you will want to measure up from the bottom to make sure the two boards are evenly spaced.
Then you will nail the boards all together. If you do not have a nail gun yet I would highly recommend it! They are affordable and with the battery pack, oh so easy to use!
You will then want to seal your wood with a clear sealer or outdoor paint.
Once your shutter is sealed then it is time to put on the final touches by embellishing your shutter. I used metal gate hinges for mine but you can use whatever you like. This is a great way to make this project unique to you!
