A client contacted me about refinishing her dining room table. She loves the farmhouse (stained top with a painted bottom) look, but knew it wouldn't compliment her existing furniture. She had an antique gold candle, with a dark brown candle stick and knew that her dream dining table would be the same color scheme.
After prepping the table by stripping the top, sanding, and taping off my sections, I painted the apron and legs in a metallic gold. Once it was dry I applied a thick coat of dark brown antiquing glaze over the gold, and wiped it off until I got the desired look.
For the top, I used General Finishes Java Gel Stain until it was just right. Once everything had plenty of time to dry completely, I used Oil Based Polyurethane to give it long lasting durability. Now this table is ready for family gatherings for years to come!
