Makeover Those Ugly Lampshades With Burlap

I had a couple of lampshades that really needed a new look. One was from a garage sale and the other was one I have had for a long time. The lamps were both garage sale finds and I gave them a faux mercury glass look. Now it was time to match the shades to the lamps.
These are the shades before they were covered. They were pretty bad! This one was all dusty. Gross.
I started with printed burlap I got at JoAnn's Fabrics. I measured the shades across the bottom, across the top and the height from the top to the bottom. I added an inch to each measurement for seam allowances. This is how each side of the shade looked after I cut them out.
Then I stitched the sides together.
And the last two sides until it was a circle.
Then I slipped it over the shade like a shirt. The larger one had a little trouble fitting. I ended up having to take out one of the seams, fitting it onto the shade and gluing the last seam closed. Once it was on, I finished it off by gluing the top and bottom edges into the inside of the shade and trimmed any hanging strings.
The smaller shade had a circular top so I added two darts to get it to fit nicely. You can see one of them in the photo below.
I do like the way they turned out and they are so such improved. What do you think?
I love lamps. I have even made my own metal lampshade. I love that thing and still have the lamp in my living room.

Hi your lamp shades are very nicely done. Great job!! I was just wondering what kind of glue you used to glue the fabric to the shade. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks
Can you offer a link to the faux mercury glass "how to"?
